This one day IOL approved course is ideal for anyone wanting to gain competence or additional understanding about using knives and saws with reference to teaching others.
You will be shown various techniques suitable for different age groups/abilities/tasks and gain an understanding of the thinking behind this. You will also look at different knives that can make a significant difference as well as choosing wood that is suitable or ideal for tasks/clients.
Time is also spent on maintenance of tools and the Law. By the end of the course, you will have created a wide range of very useful products and gained plenty of know-how along the way.
Topics include basic techniques, safety issues, choice of tools, maintenance, choice of materials for given tasks, the law as well as considerations for different age groups and different abilities.
Whether you are a Forest School Leader, Environmental Education Officer or Outdoor Instructor, you will find the course incredibly beneficial - enhancing your knowledge of using sharp tools and confidence in teaching.
